Drivers are usually not installed in the image, you have to install them - such is the xpadneo driver.

Hi @w0nderw0rm , did @mitu ‘s solution allowed you to use just the Xbox One controller, or the solution also allows you to use the Nimbus Steelseries?

I just started researching which controller to order that would work best for RetroPie AND Apple Arcade on iPhone, and it looks like the Steelseries Nimbus+ is a great controller (but I’m not sure it works with RetroPie).

Is there a better controller I should consider?
      Maybe the 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ ?

Found the option I was looking for in /etc/modprobe.d/xpad.conf

Changing from options xpad triggers_to_buttons=1 to options xpad triggers_to_buttons=0
      solved my issue.

      Hey mitu,

that did it . I m sorry for the trouble that I caused ;-/

Would it make sense to change the description from xbox 360 controller in the documentation, so that its directly clear, that it also counts for xbox one Controllers.
Or maybe just add an xbox one section, since those Controllers are not mentioned at all in the navi line.

Again sorry, in the end this was surely an rtfm issue ;-(

I will now proceed to wipe my rasp4 and install retropie

      Thanks for your efforts.
      Greetings

XArcade Tankstick (newest version in 2020) - can't get additional usb XBox One gamepad to work?

Is this because the Xarcade2jstick emulates as an Xbox controller or am I missing something because this wired USB controller is effectively controller 3?

No and yes - the new controller is most likely assigned the P3 slot and it won't work as a P1 or P2.

I am sure I am missing something simple, but I would love to know since I want to add a second wired controller to have games play head to head using gmaepads, not the tankstick.
And moving forward, I want to add another pair of USB Nintendo like controllers for the simple games..

Since your Tankstick is always connected, it might always be assigned the P1/P2 slots, so any new controller(s) will appear as P3(P4, etc.). You can re-order the controllers with something like https://github.com/meleu/RetroPie-joystick-selection or with the Configuration Editor.

@ElrasM said in False controller inputs:

But nevertheless any suggestions for my problem?

First, xboxdrv should not be installed unless you really know how to use it. It's not a real device driver, but emulates an Xbox compatible controller. The xpad is usually used for X360/Xbox controllers. If that doesn't work, then it means you're encountering the same issue.

Is there any chance that there is a seperate file for controller input detection in ES?

The configuration for EmulationStation's input is in \\retropie\configs\all\emulationstation\es_input.cfg. You can verify there that your input is mapped correctly and there are no button overlaps.

You can also start EmulationStation with the --debug flag and it will log the inputs pressed.

I don't have a HDD attached at this time. I won't until Kodi is operational on the Pi 4. I had to use the manual set up to get emulationstation up and running. I am not sure it fully took. I looked under "retroarch" in the menu and see no core, even after I have installed cores.

@Bravenstein Does the controller work in Emulationstation, browsing the games and launching them ? Please add more info about your setup as requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

@theretroprince I solved the problem of Hotkeys not saving. All I had to do was cp the retroarch.cfg from configs/all to configs/snes. It looks like there was a problem individual core configs.

      Parsec for Raspberry Pi

I hadn't heard of Parsec, but it looks like something similar to Moonlight, which I use (or did use, but ever since I updated to RetroPie 4.4 I can't seem to get it to work). I have quite a few individual bash scripts that invoke xboxdrv and then start moonlight and then individual games, so it can be done:

      sudo /opt/retropie/supplementary/xboxdrv/bin/xboxdrv > /dev/null 2>&1 \ --silent \ --detach-kernel-driver \ --deadzone=4000 \ --deadzone-trigger 15% \ --force-feedback \ --mimic-xpad \ --trigger-as-button \ --ui-buttonmap lb=void,rb=void,tl=void,tr=void,guide=void,lt=void,rt=void \ --evdev /dev/input/by-path/platform-3f980000.usb-usb-0:1.3.2:1.0-event-joystick \ --device-name "Player_1" \ --evdev-absmap ABS_X=x1,ABS_Y=y1 \ --evdev-keymap BTN_THUMB=a,BTN_TOP=b,BTN_PINKIE=x,BTN_TRIGGER=y,BTN_THUMB2=back,BTN_TOP2=start \ --ui-axismap X1=KEY_DOWN:KEY_UP,Y1=KEY_RIGHT:KEY_LEFT \ --ui-buttonmap a=KEY_Z,b=KEY_E,x=KEY_X,y=KEY_Q,back=KEY_SPACE,start=KEY_ENTER \ --ui-buttonmap back+start=cycle-key:KEY_ESC:KEY_LEFTCTRL+KEY_LEFTSHIFT+KEY_LEFTALT+KEY_Q \ & sudo /opt/retropie/supplementary/xboxdrv/bin/xboxdrv > /dev/null 2>&1 \ --silent \ --detach-kernel-driver \ --deadzone=4000 \ --deadzone-trigger 15% \ --force-feedback \ --mimic-xpad \ --trigger-as-button \ --ui-buttonmap rb=void,tl=void,tr=void,guide=void,lt=void,rt=void \ --evdev /dev/input/by-path/platform-3f980000.usb-usb-0:1.3.4:1.0-event-joystick \ --device-name "Player_2" \ --evdev-absmap ABS_X=x1,ABS_Y=y1 \ --evdev-keymap BTN_THUMB=a,BTN_TOP=b,BTN_PINKIE=x,BTN_TRIGGER=y,BTN_BASE=lb,BTN_THUMB2=back,BTN_TOP2=start \ --ui-axismap X1=KEY_F:KEY_R,Y1=KEY_G:KEY_D \ --ui-buttonmap a=KEY_S,b=KEY_P,x=KEY_A,y=KEY_W,back=KEY_J,start=KEY_H \ --ui-buttonmap back+start=cycle-key:KEY_ESC:KEY_LEFTCTRL+KEY_LEFTSHIFT+KEY_LEFTALT+KEY_Q \ & sudo /opt/retropie/emulators/moonlight/moonlight stream -bitrate 5000 -audio local -720 -fps 30 192.168.0.5 -app "UnderDefeat" moonlight quit 192.168.0.5 sudo killall > /dev/null 2>&1 xboxdrv

The above script invokes xboxdrv, maps out 2 of my joysticks as against keyboard inputs and then starts moonlight and, ultimately, the game Under Defeat via an emulator on my Windows 7 based PC.

@fuzzybat23 On first install, you will need a keyboard to configure your controller. You can do this by navigating to Options -> Control setup -> Joystick Setup -> Edit Buttons.

Once you have mapped your buttons, the axis mapped to turning will navigate a menu (this has probably already been mapped) and the button mapped to fire will select an item in a menu. I have not found a way to map Escape to a button so a keyboard will be needed to bring up the menu in-game.

Hi, if I use a regular snes controller usb design I can back out of Dreamcast the usual way start and select but when I use a wireless Xbox I have to use the center button? How can I change this, the pad is also the start button so if I’m playin I keep pausing by accident...how can I remap these?
